More Than a Dog

September 29, 2011

So, I have had Jack since he was six weeks old. We have never spent more than a few days apart in nearly 12 years. He knows me and I know him.

Throughout my time having him I have gone through a lot medically and he was always nearby to cheer me up.

Now the tables have turned to an extent. He is okay but he had to have surgery to alleviate an open cyst. The details are unimportant but now he is bandaged up and I am taking care of him.

Money is objective and I would do whatever whenever to keep him safe and healthy. I think the same is true for him although he is incapable of saying anything. I just know.

I don’t know what I would do if I didnt have him around and really don’t like to entertain the thought.

Hopefully many of you will be able to have a dog like Jack. I am glad that I do.

Jack and me…

January 20, 2009

So its time for a new post so why not do one on Jack, my basset hound? Sure he’s lazy, doesn’t behave around company but he’s the best company I could ask for while looking for a job.

He comes in my office when he needs something (go outside or eat/drink) and will either walk to the door or the kitchen depending on what he needs.

I watched Marley & Me today – well all but the last 10 minutes. I wasn’t up for feeling sad….and I’ve began to realize that dogs are mini people who eat dog food, use the restroom  (most of the time) outside and are quite literally mans best friend.

Over the summer he began having random seizures that have been treated with medicine since – but when he would have them, he would come to where I was and I’d be there. Personally, I think since I have a neurological disorder he did too.

I really don’t know where I would be without him – and I am almost willing to say the same is true for him.
